  Join the Party - See the Art Honoring Walla Walla's 150th Birthday

On Saturday, May 19 from 1 - 3 pm, the Walla Walla Public Library hosts an all-ages event with the artists of the Sesquicentennial Public Art Installation and their models. The models, honoring Walla Walla's 150 years as a city, will remain on display at the Public Library from May 19 through May 31; community members of all ages are encouraged to cast a vote for their favorite. After May 31, the votes will be tallied and the results included as a portion of the final selection criteria.

  Author Jane Kirkpatrick to Speak

The Library will host author Jane Kirkpatrick Thursday, May 24th at 7 pm. This follows the release of her highly anticipated new book Where Lilacs Still Bloom. It is based on the life of a German immigrant and farm wife who challenged early 20th century expectations with her interest in plant hybridization in Woodland, WA. Kirkpatrick has written numberous books, among which is The Daughter's Walk, another work of historical fiction based closely on a real event and originating in Spokane, WA.
