Arthouse Movie Night

Featuring selections of award-winning dramas, documentaries, foreign language, experimental, art and vintage films from Kanopy, the library's FREE streaming service!

February's selection is "Love Between the Covers: A Look at the Billion Dollar Romance Fiction Industry," directed by Laurie Kahn. Romance fiction outsells all other genres of writing, from crime to science fiction, combined. So why is the genre so often dismissed as frivolous "scribble"? Could it be that it's because the overwhelming majority of writers and readers are women? This funny and inspiring look into a billion dollar industry turns up trailblazers who push the discussion on gender, race, sexuality and diversity at the front lines of the biggest power shift in publishing. Official Selection at the Hot Docs Film Festival and at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Join us in person in Crewspace at the library; admission is free; popcorn included!

Access all Kanopy films with your library card; visit the website to create an account or speak with a library staff member to start watching today!
