Public Briefing — City of Walla Walla Tax Increment Area

The City of Walla Walla will hold a public briefing on May 6 at 6:30 PM at City of Walla Walla City Hall, 15 North 3rd Avenue, on the tax increment financing of the public improvements in the proposed City of Walla Walla Tax Increment Area. The proposed TIA is centered around the Myra Road/SR 125 intersection and surrounding area.

Tax increment financing (TIF) is a funding mechanism that allows local governments to finance public infrastructure and other community improvement projects. It works by capturing the increase in property tax revenue generated from new development within a designated area, known as a tax increment area (TIA). This revenue is then used to fund public improvements. The impact of this financing method is primarily on the other taxing districts. A detailed projection of these impacts on other local governments is shown in the Draft Report on the City of Walla Walla TIA located on the City website.

Members of the public may attend the meeting in person or online via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86158777987.
