Public meeting: Recommendations for tourism master plan

Walla Walla area residents are invited to join the City of Walla Walla and strategy consultants HUB Collective for a presentation of the recommendations for the City's 10-year tourism master plan.

The presentation will take place at 6 p.m. on June 25, 2024, in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 15 N. 3rd Ave. Members of the public may attend in person or via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82884394971  Meeting ID: 828 8439 4971#

The goal of the master plan is to promote quality of life for residents while cultivating a highly engaging experience for visitors that features excellent attractions and celebrates the local way of life.

At the June 25 presentation, the team from HUB will share the overall goals and strategies that structure the plan and recommendations for a phased approach to work toward those goals in the next 10 years. The event will be an opportunity for residents to hear about the process and share any thoughts before the plan is finalized and approved by the Walla Walla City Council.

The recommendations incorporate feedback provided by community members at a presentation on May 7, 2024, and a subsequent online survey.

“We want the tourism master plan to reflect the perspectives of all Walla Walla residents,” Walla Walla Deputy City Manager Bob Francis said. “By providing these opportunities for community members to share their thoughts, we can create a plan that will benefit everyone — residents and visitors alike.”

The master plan will be a forward-looking document that outlines the vision for tourism and an action-oriented plan of accomplishment for years to come. The plan will highlight community benefits, workforce retention and training, budget allocations, and sustainability best practices to strengthen the tourism economy and ensure that this pivotal part of the local economy is positioned to endure. It is envisioned to be the guiding document for tourism investment and planning for the next 10 years.
