Caldecott Art

Join us every other Wednesday afternoon at 3:30pm (alternates with Yoga Stories)

  • Date: 01/20/2021 3:30 PM - 3:45 PM
  • Location: WWPL Facebook page--Events
    https://www.facebook.com/events/415651572978706
  • Introduction: Join Librarian Liz George to see how illustration can open up new conversations about old favorites. This series encourages a deeper look at illustrations in Caldecott-award winning books, and how these stories teach us about living.

Join us on Facebook every other Wednesday through May 26th

Week #1: A Sick Day for Amos McGee, written by Philip C. Stead and illustrated by Erin E. Stead; winner of the 2011 Caldecott Medal.
Wood block and pencil, with light use of color create a jumping off point for art projects.
This week’s simple supplies:

  • Watercolor set (or get dangerous with food coloring!)
  • Sharp pencils all kinds and colors
  • A paper bag (if you are doing library pick-up – you have plenty!); other paper works, too – try to recycle if you can.

Ask for a kit at the library, save your supplies and build yourself a home art kit!
